Third baseman Matt Shaw had 5 hits and 4 RBI as the Streator Reds outscored
the Dyersville Jurassics 14 to 9.
Shaw had a big day with his bat. He laced a one-base hit in the 2nd inning,
doubled which scored a run in the 3rd inning, ripped a solo home run in the
5th inning, doubled which plated a run in the 6th inning and hit a single
plating a run in the 8th inning. Dyersville was not lacking for run support
as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed
to forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames.
The victory was credited to A.J. Blubaugh(1-0) who went 2 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 2 runs. Robbie Ray(8-17) was given the loss. 'I had good swings
tonight,' Shaw said, 'Everything felt right'.
