Kyle Schwarber cracked a homer and had 3 RBI and Mackenzie Gore whiffed 10
batters as the Palatine Cubs defeated the dreadful Dublin Pubcrawlers 8 to 4
at Poets Field.
Schwarber was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he
provided much of the offense for the visitors. He cracked a solo homerun in
the 3rd inning, tripled which was good for two runs in the 7th inning and
laced a base-knock in the 9th inning. Palatine had 13 hits for the game and
Dublin had 6.
Gore(6-8) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing 2 runs.
Mitch Keller(7-13) was the loser. Gore was asked about his big strikeout
performance, 'Well, it's a little odd when you rack up these numbers on the
road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the stands, everything gets
real still and quiet. Just strange - but it's nice to be able to take the
crowd out of the game.'
