Brad Lord reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts as the Nimrod Numnuts defeated
the Tombstone Huckleberries by a score of 13 to 5 at Sutter Health
Park.
Kerry Carpenter had a big evening at the plate. He doubled in the 1st inning,
lined a one-base hit bringing in a run in the 3rd inning and clubbed a
three-run home run in the 7th inning. Nimrod finished with 12 hits while
Tombstone ended up with 9.
Lord(11-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing 1 run.
Cole Ragans(3-4) was the loser. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving
up 6 hits and 3 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
Doug Salzwedel was upset after the game. 'I don't like to complain but did
you see that umpires strike zone?', he said. 'Maybe they ought to start
calling the strike zone the way it's printed in the rule book.'
