Left fielder Ian Happ ripped 3 homeruns at Truist Park where the Nimrod
Numnuts beat the Illinois Patriots by the score of 8 to 5.
Happ was unconscious out there. While Illinois pitching was serving softballs
up there for him to hit, the Illinois fans were serving up some hardball
barbs when he entered the batter's box. But he just used it as fuel for the
fire. He hit a bases-empty home run in the 1st inning, delivered a solo
blast in the 4th inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 5th
inning and delivered a single in the 6th inning. Phil Maton came throught
with a perfect ninth inning to earn his 14th save.
The winning pitcher was Kris Bubic(9-4) who allowed 1 run in 6 innings. Shane
Baz(7-11) was given the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 6 runs
in 3 and 2/3 innings.
'Everything seemed to click tonight,' Happ said 'if it could only be this easy
all the time!'
