Designated hitter Ezequiel Tovar hit 2 doubles at Long Grove CG where the
Vernon Hillbillies beat the Aarlington Aardvarks 3 to 2.
Vernon did all the necessary damage in the 6th inning scoring 3 runs on 3
hits. Henry Davis led off the inning for Vernon when he drew a walk. Tovar
followed and he doubled knocking in a run. Jac Caglianone then was hit by a
pitch. After an out was recorded, Kyle Isbel came to bat and banged out a
single. Ke'Bryan Hayes stepped into the box and stroked a one-base hit, and
an error was also committed, with two more runners crossing home. Aarlington
had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Will Warren(5-13) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing
2 runs. Grant Taylor earned the save, his 15th. Tobias Myers(2-3) was given
the loss in relief. He pitched 3 innings allowing 4 hits and 1
walk.
Vernon, who had been struggling lately, moved their record to 50-90. They are
now 2-8 in their last ten games. With this loss, Aarlington has a 6-4 record
of late, 75-65 overall.
