One run was the difference at Leones Field as the red-hot Caracas Leones
defeated the pitiful Dublin Pubcrawlers 5 to 4.
Caracas came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 8th inning with 2
runs utilizing 2 base hits. Manny Machado led off and he ripped a
base-knock. Colson Montgomery was next and he bombed a two-run dinger.
Dublin tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
Caleb Thielbar(2-1) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 2 and 2/3
innings. Thielbar got help from Emilio Pagan who earned his 19th save. Louie
Varland(3-7) suffered the loss in relief.
Alan Dyche was beaming after the game, 'Not only were we making good contact,
but a lot of balls we hit seemed to have 'eyes'! I just love winning these
tight ones! It was just our evening - no doubt about it!'
