Designated hitter Kyle Schwarber had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Palatine Cubs
outscored the Hollywood Marines in 10 innings 6 to 5.
The score was tied at 5 after nine. Palatine was victorious in the 10th
inning. Anthony Volpe slapped a one-base hit. Volpe took second on the
throw. Carmen Mlodzinski then let one slip out of his hand for a wild pitch.
After an out was recorded, Gabriel Moreno was walked intentionally. Jose
Altuve followed next and he stroked a single giving Palatine the win much to
the delight of the home town crowd. For the game Palatine out-hit Hollywood
15 to 12.
The win was credited to Greg Weissert(4-3) who went 2 innings allowing no
runs. Mlodzinski(1-3) ended up with the loss in relief. He got hammered,
allowing 5 hits and 3 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
The winning ways continue for Palatine. They now have a record of 8-2 in
recent days. With this loss, Hollywood has a 5-5 record of late, 86-50
overall.
