Joe Ryan(17-2)with bullpen help constrained Columbus in an evening game. The
potent Tombstone Huckleberries scored 6 runs in a winning effort at The
Horseshoe.
Tombstone jumped on top to stay in the 3rd inning scoring 2 runs on 2 hits.
After two were out Zach Neto keyed the rally when he drew a walk. Joey
Loperfido stepped up to the plate and he stroked a one-base hit. Doug
Salzwedel then called for a steal which was successful. Matt Olson followed
next and he drew a walk. Tombstone continued their aggressive style with
another stolen base. Giancarlo Stanton kept the inning going and drew a walk
to load the bases. Dominic Canzone came to the plate and slapped a base-hit
scoring the final run of the inning. That early run support was enough for
Ryan and Tombstone. Tombstone finished with 7 hits while Columbus ended up
with 4.
Edwin Diaz was credited with his 35th save. Clarke Schmidt(4-3) absorbed the
loss. He allowed 3 runs and 4 hits in 6 innings.
