Spencer Schwellenbach went 6 strong innings as the Chicago Whales defeated the
Tampico Stogies by the score of 1 to 0 at Busch Stadium.
Tampico surrendered what proved to be the only run of the contest when Chicago
scored in the 4th inning. Geraldo Perdomo laced a base-hit. Kyle Tucker
followed, but he was set down on strikes. Jahmai Jones then drew a walk.
Otto Kemp was up next and he banged out a single scoring the run. Tampico
threatened in the 9th but Chicago was able to put down the rally.
The winning pitcher was Schwellenbach(8-7) who allowed no runs in 6 innings.
Tyler Phillips preserved the game for Schwellenbach, recording his his 7th
save. The loss was charged to Trevor Rogers(4-5).
In another of a string of victories, Chicago extended their winning streak to
6 games.
