Michael Wacha went 7 solid innings at Leones Field as the smoking-hot Caracas
Leones came back dramatically to top the struggling Palatine Cubs by the
score of 3 to 2.
Caracas came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs using
3 hits. After an out was recorded, Mike Trout was the sparkplug when he drew
a walk. Aaron Judge followed and he laced a base-hit. Javier Baez then
lined a single knocking in a run. Nico Hoerner stepped in and he drew a walk
to load the bases. Tyler Stephenson stepped into the box and drew a walk
bringing home one more runner. One out later, Bryce Harper came to the plate
and delivered a one-base hit giving Caracas the win as 52,369 happy fans
joyfully celebrated. The game was a scoreless duel until the 8th inning.
The victory was credited to Steven Matz(3-1) who went 1 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Greg Weissert(2-3) was given the loss in relief.
'Wow, that was fun!', Matz said following the game. 'Once in a while you play
a game that reminds you just why you got into this business to begin with!'
