The smoking-hot Aarlington Aardvarks came roaring back in the top of the ninth
to spoil the anticipated celebration of the hometown fans. The final score,,
was 4 to 3.
Aarlington won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning plating 3
runs utilizing 3 base hits. Shohei Ohtani initiated the scoring when he
ripped a solo home run. After an out was recorded, Alec Bohm came up and he
banged out a single. James Wood then drew a walk. A balk was called. Brett
Baty came up to bat and delivered a base-hit as another two runners scored.
Aarlington won despite being out-hit by Palatine 10 hits to 7.
Nick Mears(3-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 and 2/3 innings and
allowing no runs. Tanner Banks earned his 6th save. Camilo Doval(2-8) was
the losing pitcher in relief.
Doval was feeling apologetic in the locker room, 'I sure let that one get
away. What a miserable feeling to let the guys down; and our fans. One
minute things are looking great, then. BOOM, it's over with! I just hope I
get a chance to redeem myself real soon!'
