Third baseman Addison Barger hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI at Busch Stadium as
the Tampico Stogies beat the Columbus Crowd by the count of 6 to 1.
Tampico took the lead off Clarke Schmidt in the first inning scoring 3 runs on
3 hits. After two outs William Contreras initiated the scoring spurt when he
drew a walk. Josh Naylor came next and he lifted one out of the park for a
two run home run. Brendan Donovan then laced a base-knock. Schmidt then let
one slip out of his hand for a wild pitch. Barger stepped into the box and
slapped a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. That was all the
runs Hunter Brown(9-7) needed. The pitchers took over after the 2nd inning
as neither team was able to score again.
Schmidt(3-2) absorbed the loss. He pitched 2/3 of an inning allowing 3 hits
and 1 walk.
