Right fielder Lars Nootbaar jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI as
the Vernon Hillbillies staged a dramatic comeback over the Streator Reds by a
score of 9 to 5 at Streator Park.
Vernon had the winning rally in the top of the 9th inning when they tallied 6
runs on 5 hits. The big moment was provided by Austin Wells who silenced the
stadium when he belted a three-run homer. Vernon finished with 11 hits while
Streator ended up with 6.
The victory was credited to Walker Buehler(7-1) who went 3 and 2/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Chris Paddack(2-13) was hit with the loss in relief. He
was knocked around pretty good, giving up 7 runs in 4 innings.
Ralph Madara was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not in
the mood for questions, but I'm sure John Stryker will be glad to talk about
the game as long as you have questions to ask.'
