Woodfield drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
plating 2 runs on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Juan Soto got things
rolling when he laced a single. One out later, Devers came up and he drew a
walk. Gleyber Torres then doubled scoring a run. Gavin Sheets was up next
and he drew a walk to load the bases. Carson Kelly stepped into the box and
drew a walk scoring the final run of the inning. That was all the runs Casey
Mize(3-2) needed. Woodfield had 13 hits for the night while Vernon had 6.
Erick Fedde(2-4) was charged with the loss. He was touched for 9 hits and 5
walks in 4 innings.
