In a dramatic ending the Dyersville Jurassics staged a comeback and held on to
win over the Columbus Crowd by the count of 11 to 7.
Dyersville came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 9th
inning as they scored 6 runs on 4 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided
by Willy Adames who disappointed the partisan crowd when he lofted a
three-run 'big-fly'. It was roller coaster of a game as the lead change
hands 5 times.
The victory went to Joe Boyle(1-0) who went 3 and 1/3 innings, allowing 2
runs. Jojo Romero(1-2) ended up with the loss in relief. He surrendered 2
hits and 2 walks in 1/3 of an inning.
Jim Aldrich was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his office
after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just
sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating
wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence. Weird. but GREAT!'
