Joe Ryan had an impressive outing and Byron Buxton lofted one into the 'cheap
seats' and had 2 RBI at The O.K. Corral where the Tombstone Huckleberries
beat the Nimrod Numnuts 7 to 4.
Nimrod fell behind quickly as the Tombstone offense came through in the first
inning with 3 runs on 4 hits. Jose Ramirez led off and started the attack as
he doubled. Two outs later Buxton stepped in and he lifted one out of the
park for a two run home run. Matt Olson then doubled. Randy Arozarena
followed next and he delivered a base-hit scoring the final run of the
inning. Tombstone out-hit Nimrod for the game, 12 hits to 4.
Ryan(11-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing no
runs. Kris Bubic(5-4) absorbed the loss. He allowed 10 hits and 3 walks in 5
and 2/3 innings.
The Tombstone ballclub's record now stands at a division leading 59-29.
Nimrod has a record of 45-43 after the loss.
