Left fielder Brendan Donovan had 2 base hits and Kyle Bradish mowed down 13
Streator batters as the Tampico Stogies beat the Streator Reds in 11 innings
by a score of 4 to 2.
The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings. Tampico won the hard
fought contest in the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Donovan was
the sparkplug when he doubled which scored a run. Josh Naylor next to the
plate and he ripped a base-hit. William Contreras then hit a sacrifice fly
scoring the final run of the inning. For the game Tampico out-hit Streator 8
to 3.
The win went to Brennan Bernardino(3-2) who allowed no runs in 1 inning.
Aroldis Chapman recorded the save, his 22nd. The loss was charged to Angel
Zerpa(2-3) in relief.
The win by Tampico was very good news as they had been 2-8 of late. Now their
seasonal record improves to a division leading 50-33. With the loss,
Streator has a record of 4-6 lately, 25-58, worst in the division overall.
