At Streator Park, the Streator faithful were treated to an intriguing
pitcher's duel. Chris Sale(4-6) finally bested his Tampico counterpart, Zack
Wheeler(4-5), by the score of 1 to 0.
Streator drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
scoring a single run on 2 base hits. That early run support was all that
Sale required. Tampico had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up
short.
Tony Santillan earned his 5th save. Wheeler was hit with the loss. Despite
losing, he struckout 10 Streator batters in 7 innings.
'We won because we did the little things right.' Ralph Madara said after the
game. 'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so when we get
in close games we don't make mistakes.'
