Alex Bregman blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Illinois Patriots defeated
the Burbank Tigers by the score of 3 to 2 at Truist Park.
Illinois took the lead for good in the bottom of the 6th inning scoring a
single run. Burbank had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
The victory was credited to Lake Bachar(2-0) who went 1 and 2/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Brant Hurter was credited with his 4th save. Justin
Verlander(3-7) was the losing pitcher.
Ryan Calabrese was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If only
we could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not
going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
