Center fielder Victor Scott went yard and had 2 RBI as the Vernon Hillbillies
won at Long Grove CG in dramatic fashion over the Tombstone Huckleberries,
the final score, 6 to 4.
Vernon scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning plating 2
runs utilizing 2 base hits. Ke'Bryan Hayes kicked off the action when he
laced a one-base hit. Scott stepped up next and he laid down a sacrifice
bunt. Andrew Vaughn then popped a two-run clout over the fence resulting in
a mighty exciting win for Vernon and the 18,751 home town fans in attendance.
Vernon had 10 hits for the night while Tombstone had 6.
The victory went to Ryan Gusto(2-1) who went 2 and 1/3 innings, allowing 1
run. Robert Suarez(7-2) took the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 hits and
no walks in 1/3 of an inning.
