Center fielder Nathan Lukes connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI as the
seemingly unstoppable Chicago Whales defeated the Palatine Cubs by a score of
5 to 4 at Palatine Park.
Janson Junk(1-0) had a steady outing. He surrendered 7 hits and no walks in 5
and 1/3 innings. Palatine had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Junk got help from Pete Fairbanks who earned his 9th save. Yoshinobu
Yamamoto(5-2) was the losing pitcher. Tony Calabrese was clearly
disappointed after the game. 'It was a manager's nightmare out there', he
said, 'We should have had this one.'
