Designated hitter Andrew Vaughn blasted 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Long Grove
CG where the Vernon Hillbillies beat the Columbus Crowd by the score of 6 to
5.
Vaughn enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He clubbed a two-run home run in
the 2nd inning, smashed a two-run homer in the 4th inning and ripped a single
which plated a run in the 6th inning. This was a game of many highs and lows
for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.
The victory went to Walker Buehler(4-0) who went 3 innings, allowing no runs.
Grant Taylor gained credit for his 6th save. Zac Gallen(3-4) was hit with
the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in 5 and 1/3 innings.
'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Vaughn said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and
not do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by
game, and pitch by pitch.'
