William Contreras had 2 base hits at West Side Park as the Tampico Stogies
beat the struggling Chicago Whales 4 to 2.
Tampico scored 2 runs in the decisive 7th inning. The big moment was provided
by Luis Arraez who quieted the home crowd when he doubled bringing home two
baserunners. Aroldis Chapman was perfect in relief and gained credit for his
18th save.
Adrian Morejon(3-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Griffin
Jax(0-1) suffered the loss in relief. His ERA increased from 4.50 to 4.85 as
he allowed 2 runs in 1 and 2/3 innings.
With this win, Tampico has a division leading 37-18 record. They have been
7-3 lately. Still in a bad slump, with this loss, Chicago is 2-8 lately and
28-27 on the year.
