Matt McLain had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the Vernon Hillbillies defeated the
Columbus Crowd by the score of 4 to 2 at The Horseshoe.
Vernon had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning with 2 runs
using 2 hits. After two outs Austin Hays initiated the scoring spurt when he
drew a walk. Victor Scott came to the plate and drew a walk. McLain then
slapped a one-base hit which scored a run. McLain took second on the throw.
Nick Allen followed next and he ripped a base-hit scoring the final run of
the inning. Despite losing, Columbus out-hit Vernon 9 to 5.
Ryan Gusto(1-1) went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Reid
Detmers earned the save, his 3rd. Steven Okert(2-2) was charged with the
loss in relief.
