Catcher Yainer Diaz smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Illinois Patriots
outscored the Burbank Tigers 9 to 6.
Diaz enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He hit a bases-empty home run in
the 2nd inning, doubled resulting in a run in the 7th inning and cleared the
fences for a two-run home run in the 9th inning. Illinois rapped out 13 hits
for the night.
Shane Baz(3-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 3 runs. Kyle Finnegan was credited with his 1st save. J.P.
Sears(1-2) was tagged with the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in 2 and
2/3 innings.
'I felt great out there tonight' Diaz said. 'I was seeing the ball perfectly,
and I was right on it with my swing.
