Patrick Corbin racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts at Long Grove CG
as the Vernon Hillbillies beat the Nimrod Numnuts by the count of 5 to
1.
Corbin(3-6) had a solid outing for Vernon. He surrendered 6 hits and 1 walk
in 6 and 2/3 innings. Vernon managed 11 hits in their victory.
Ryan Gusto preserved the game for Corbin, recording his his 3rd save. Matt
Boyd(1-3) ended up with the loss. Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance
of Corbin - except Nimrod. Mark Salzwedel lamented, 'He just was 'on'
tonight. He was keeping our guys off balance all game. A fine game by a
good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans -
unfortunately we were the visitors!'
