Brad Lord didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning and right fielder Kerry
Carpenter had 2 base hits at Sutter Health Park where the Nimrod Numnuts beat
the Gotham Gold Gloves by the score of 2 to 1.
Lord(4-2) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He was stingy on the mound,
allowing just 1 hit and 2 walks in 6 innings. Lord mowed down 11 Gotham
batters reducing his ERA from 2.14 to 1.88. The right-handed Lord had his
no-hit bid broken up by Cal Raleigh who singled with two outs in the 6th
inning. Gotham made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the
needed runs across.
Lord got help from Alex Vesia who earned his 5th save. Logan Evans(0-2) was
the loser. Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Lord - except Gotham.
Mike Wilson lamented, 'He just was 'on' tonight. He was keeping our guys
off balance all game. A fine game by a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a
fun game for the hometown fans - unfortunately we were the visitors!'
