Second baseman Nick Gonzales had 3 base hits and 2 RBI and Chris Sale racked
up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts as the Streator Reds bested the
Illinois Patriots 6 to 3 at Truist Park.
Sale(3-1) had a solid outing for Streator. He surrendered 4 hits and 2 walks
in 7 innings. Streator out-hit Illinois for the game, 15 hits to 6.
Sale got help from Carlos Vargas who was credited with his 1st save. The loss
was charged to Ryne Nelson(2-4). Sale didn't realize how many strikeouts he
was racking up. When told he had 10 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding?
Man, I knew that I had a decent total, but I didn't think I had K'd that
many. Say, that's pretty good, isn't it?'
