Wenceel Perez hit 2 doubles as the Tampico Stogies defeated the Hollywood
Marines in 13 innings by the score of 4 to 3 at Busch Stadium.
The score was tied at 2 after nine. Tampico ended up winning it in the 13th
inning. Perez got things going when he doubled driving in a run. Jake
Meyers next to the plate and he ripped a single giving Tampico the win much
to the delight of the home town crowd. Tampico finished with 7 hits in the
victory.
Rafael Montero(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 2 innings.
Merrill Kelly(0-4) was the losing pitcher in relief. He was unable to retire
a batter allowing 2 hits and no walks.
