At Palatine Park, the Palatine fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel.
Mackenzie Gore(2-0) finally bested his Woodfield opposite, Spencer
Strider(0-1), by the score of 1 to 0.
Palatine scored what proved to be the only run of the contest in the bottom of
the 2nd inning. Kyle Schwarber drew a walk. Gabriel Moreno followed next
and he lined a one-base hit. Royce Lewis then laced a base-hit scoring the
run. That early run support was enough for Gore and Palatine. Woodfield
threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Gore got relief help from Camilo Doval who gained credit for his 4th save.
Strider was tagged with the loss. He surrendered 1 run and 5 hits in 5
innings.
'We just made a lot of mistakes, mostly mental,' Mike Gahalla said. 'It's bad
enough when the other team beats you, but when you start beating yourselves,
that's really bad.'
