In a two run game the Chicago Whales got by the Illinois Patriots by the score
of 6 to 4.
Chicago drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning with
2 runs. Gunnar Henderson kicked off the action when he drew a walk.
Henderson got a great jump and stole second easily. Geraldo Perdomo then
cleared the fences for a two-run home run. Illinois threatened in the 9th
but Chicago was able to put down the rally.
The win was credited to Andrew Alvarez(1-0) who went 5 innings allowing no
runs. Ryne Nelson(2-3) was the loser. He surrendered 6 hits and 4 walks in 4
innings.
