It was a great finish at Busch Stadium as the Tampico Stogies pulled off a
dramatic comeback beating the Nimrod Numnuts by the count of 4 to 3.
Tampico had the winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs.
Jazz Chisholm opened up the inning nicely when he drew a walk. Jurickson
Profar followed next and he drew a walk. T.J. Friedl then laid down a
sacrifice bunt. Brendan Donovan was up next and he was walked intentionally
to load the bases. Dansby Swanson came up to bat and delivered a one-base
hit which scored a run. Jason Adam then let one get away for a wild pitch
making Tampico the victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration.
Tampico totaled 7 hits on the night.
Brennan Bernardino(1-0) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the
victory. Daniel Palencia(0-1) took the loss in relief. Mike Aldrich was
ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought game like that.
Our guys just weren't going to be denied. And did you see the fans - they
were going wild! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win tonight!'
