Robbie Ray went 7 strong innings and catcher Salvador Perez hit 2 doubles and
had 2 RBI at Streator Park where the Streator Reds beat the Woodfield
Roadkyll by the score of 8 to 0.
Woodfield was unable to climb back into it after Streator went ahead for good
in the bottom of the 3rd inning plating 3 runs utilizing 4 base hits.
Spencer Steer led off and started the rally when he doubled. Two outs later
Freddie Freeman came up and he doubled resulting in a run. Jeremy Pena then
was walked intentionally. Seiya Suzuki followed and he delivered a base-hit
scoring another run. Suzuki took second on the throw. Perez stepped into
the box and ripped a single scoring the final run of the inning. That was
all the offense they were to need. Streator had 13 hits for the night while
Woodfield had 2.
Ray(1-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 7 innings. Casey Mize(1-1)
took the loss. He pitched 5 innings giving up 6 hits and 2 walks.
