The Palatine Cubs and the Tombstone Huckleberries locked up in an exciting
one-run game at Palatine Park. The final score was the Palatine Cubs 3, the
Tombstone Huckleberries 2.
Palatine went ahead for good in the bottom of the 5th inning scoring a single
run using 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Masyn Winn slapped a base-hit.
Jose Altuve stepped up next and he ripped a base-knock. Andy Ibanez then
drew a walk to load the bases. Luis Robert followed next and he hit a
sacrifice fly scoring the run. Tombstone threatened in the 9th but Palatine
was able to put down the rally.
The winning pitcher was Yoshinobu Yamamoto(2-1) who allowed 2 runs in 6
innings. Yamamoto got help from John Schreiber who was credited with his 1st
save. Clayton Kershaw(1-1) was the loser.
