Left fielder Chandler Simpson had 2 base hits as the Palatine Cubs topped the
Columbus Crowd by a score of 5 to 4 at Palatine Park.
In the bottom of the 7th inning Palatine went on top for good plating an
isolated run on 2 base hits. Columbus had a chance in the 9th but they came
up short.
Daniel Coulombe(1-0) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the win. Coulombe got
relief help from Camilo Doval who gained credit for his 2nd save. Steven
Okert(0-1) was the loser in relief.
Tony Calabrese was beaming after the game, 'Not only were we making good
contact, but a lot of balls we hit seemed to have 'eyes'! I just love winning
these tight ones! It was just our evening - no doubt about it!'
