Nico Hoerner had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Leones Field as the Caracas Leones
came back dramatically to top the slumping Vernon Hillbillies by the score of
4 to 3.
Caracas won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 9th inning with 2 runs
on 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Tyler Stephenson got things
rolling when he ripped a base-knock. Aaron Judge stepped up next and he drew
a walk. Will Smith then banged out a single scoring a one-base hit run. One
out later, Hoerner stepped up to the plate and he laced a single making
Caracas the winners and sending the 50,782 fans home happy. Caracas had only
5 hits for the game.
Mike Burrows(1-0) allowed no runs in 3 innings, and picked up the victory. The
losing pitcher was Grant Taylor(0-1) in relief. He surrendered 2 hits and 1
walk in 1/3 of an inning.
'What a game!,' Burrows said afterward. 'When we won it I almost couldn't
believe it!'
