Chris Bassitt carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning at The O.K. Corral as
the Tombstone Huckleberries won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the
Woodfield Roadkyll by the count of 2 to 1.
Tombstone scored the winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs. Mitch Garver led off and keyed the rally when he drew a walk. Willi
Castro struck out, unable to help the rally. Chourio then stole second base.
Jonny Deluca was the next batter, but he struck out. Yordan Alvarez came up
to bat and bombed a two-run dinger giving Tombstone the win and sending the
home town fans into a frenzy. Neither team was able to score until the 6th
inning.
Collin Snider(2-1) allowed no runs in 3 innings, and picked up the victory.
The right-handed Bassitt lost his chance for a no-hitter when Juan Soto
doubled with nobody out in the 6th inning. Andres Munoz(5-1) was the losing
pitcher in relief.
Doug Salzwedel was all smiles after the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty
dim there for a while, but our guys never gave up - and neither did our fans
- they kept cheering us on. What a sweet win!'
