Ryan McMahon had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the dominant Chicago Whales bested
the Tampico Stogies 3 to 2 at Busch Stadium.
Chicago scored all of the necessary runs in the 1st inning scoring 3 runs
utilizing 3 base hits. Geraldo Perdomo got things going when he doubled.
Dane Myers stepped up to the plate and he lined a base-hit. Luke Raley
struck out, unable to help the rally. Matt Chapman got his turn next, but he
was a strikeout victim. Griffin Conine stepped into the box and drew a walk
to load the bases. McMahon kept the inning going and doubled, and an error
was also committed, clearing the bases. That was all the runs Spencer
Schwellenbach(14-7) needed. Neither team managed to score after the 1st
inning.
Schwellenbach was helped out by Pete Fairbanks who recorded his 1st save.
Brayan Bello(4-14) absorbed the loss. While he was the losing pitcher, he
still struck out 10 batters in 7 innings.
