The Tampico Stogies broke the deadlock in their last at bats, pulling out a 5
to 4 win over the Chicago Whales and sending their hometown fans home
smiling.
The game was decided in the bottom of the 9th inning. Connor Norby singled.
After an out was recorded, Wenceel Perez stepped in and he delivered a
one-base hit. T.J. Friedl then slapped a base-hit. Will Benson followed and
he laced a base-hit resulting in a mighty exciting win for Tampico and the
9,157 home town fans in attendance. Although they lost, Chicago did out-hit
Tampico 14 to 10.
Sam Moll(6-4) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. The losing pitcher
was Joe Jimenez(5-4) in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning and surrendered
3 hits and no walks.
