Kyle Hendricks had a strong outing at The O.K. Corral as the very talented
Tombstone Huckleberries came back dramatically to top the Nimrod Numnuts by
the score of 5 to 4.
Tombstone had the winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs. After an
out was recorded, Brooks Baldwin got things rolling when he singled. One out
later, Willi Castro stepped up to the plate and he drew a walk. Baldwin
proceeded to steal third base. Jackson Chourio followed next and he was
walked intentionally to load the bases. Cedric Mullins stepped into the box
and drew a walk which brought home a run. Michel Otanez then let loose a
wild pitch giving Tombstone the victory and sending the 52,730 home-town fans
home happy. Tombstone had a total of 10 hits for the game.
The victory went to Hendricks(4-0) who went 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Otanez(2-1) was given the loss in relief. Hendricks and Chourio were
really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the great come from behind
victory. As Doug Salzwedel noted, 'A win like this one can do wonders for a
team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the fans, the players - even
you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen runs!'
