In an exciting finish the Palatine Cubs pulled out a win over the Dallas
Gibsons by a score of 11 to 9 at Kauffman Stadium.
Palatine scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning with 2
runs. Whit Merrifield led off and he drew a walk. Kyle Schwarber came next
and he blasted a two-run home run giving Palatine the victory as 19,303 happy
fans celebrated wildly. Palatine had 12 hits for the game and Dallas had 8.
Garrett Cleavinger(3-4) allowed no runs in 1/3 of an inning, and picked up the
victory. Carson Fulmer(2-1) suffered the loss in relief.
