Patrick Corbin(4-15) and Hayden Birdsong(2-2) treated the Vernon fans to a
fine pitching duel at Long Grove CG. The Vernon Hillbillies eventually
emerged as victors over the Nimrod Numnuts by the score of 3 to 1.
Vernon scored all of the necessary runs in the 4th inning plating 3 runs on 2
hits. Austin Wells led off and started the attack as he drew a walk. Jared
Triolo was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Ke'Bryan Hayes
then drew a walk. Heston Kjerstad stepped in and he banged out a single to
load the bases. Ceddanne Rafaela came up to bat and was walked intentionally
to load the bases. Alex Verdugo joined his teammates in the uprising and
doubled emptying the bases. After the 4th inning, neither team was able to
score.
Tyler Alexander earned his 2nd save.
