20,310 fans were treated to a fine game at Burbank Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Burbank Tigers won by the
slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
Burbank had 2 runs cross the plate in the 2nd inning. The biggest moment was
provided by Bryan Reynolds who came through for the home fans when he lifted
one out of the park for a two run home run. Vernon had a chance to come back
in the 9th but they came up short.
The win was credited to J.P. Sears(9-8) who went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 2
runs. Sears got relief help from Robert Suarez who gained credit for his 29th
save. The loss was charged to Patrick Corbin(3-15). He allowed just 5 hits
and 1 walk in 8 innings.
Wes Davies was beaming after the game, 'Not only were we making good contact,
but a lot of balls we hit seemed to have 'eyes'! I just love winning these
tight ones! It was just our evening - no doubt about it!'
