In a close game it was the Streator Reds 7, the Gotham Gold Gloves 5 at
Streator Park.
Gotham found themselves trailing quickly as the Streator bats came through in
the first inning when they scored 6 runs on 5 hits. That was all the runs
Chris Sale(10-2) needed. Streator rapped out 9 hits for the night.
Sale got help from Kirby Yates who earned his 24th save. Sean Manaea(7-7) was
the losing pitcher. By giving up 6 runs in 2/3 of an inning his ERA
increased from 4.15 to 4.57.
'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Ralph Madara said after the game. 'Sale did not have command of
his pitches most of the night, but he proved he really knew how to pitch!'
