Frankie Montas didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning and Jackson Merrill
went deep and had 5 RBI as the Palatine Cubs beat the Dublin Pubcrawlers by a
score of 10 to 3.
Merrill enjoyed a great evening at the plate. He laced a base-hit in the 3rd
inning, tripled which was good for two runs in the 4th inning and cracked a
two-run shot in the 6th inning. Palatine had 15 hits overall, while Dublin
had 4.
Montas(3-4) went 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. The
right-handed Montas had his no-hit bid broken up by Josh Smith who singled
with nobody out in the 6th inning. The loss was charged to Gavin Stone(4-6).
He was touched for 10 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
Merrill was in a good mood after the game, 'I'm just seeing and hitting the
ball real well now. I made some adjustments last week and they are paying
off. That's what this game is about. making adjustments as the season goes
along.'
