At The O.K. Corral the Vernon Hillbillies snapped a 8 game losing streak and
outscored the Tombstone Huckleberries 6 to 3.
Vernon scored 4 runs in the 6th inning when they had 4 base hits. The biggest
moment was provided by Davis Schneider who deflated the crowd as he emptied
the bases with a Grand Slam homerun. The Tombstone batters went down meekly
in the bottom of the 9th.
Zach Eflin(6-4) allowed 3 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Tyler
Holton got the save, his 5th. Zebby Matthews(0-1) suffered the loss. He
surrendered only 4 runs and 3 hits in 5 and 2/3 innings.
John Stryker was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad streak of
games -- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back. Now maybe we can
relax a little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'
