Marcus Semien launched 4 homeruns and had 7 RBI as the Chicago Whales defeated
the Streator Reds by a score of 9 to 2 at West Side Park.
Semien was spectacular at the plate. The hometown fans showed their
appreciation with a standing ovation his last time at bat. He clubbed a
three-run home run in the 2nd inning, blasted a solo shot in the 4th inning,
blasted a two-run home run in the 6th inning and ripped a solo home run in
the 8th inning. Chicago ended up with 11 hits for the game while Streator
had 6.
Spencer Schwellenbach(8-3) went 5 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory.
Javier Assad(2-6) absorbed the loss. Chicago scored big getting 5 runs off
him in 4 and 2/3 innings.
'They made a couple of mistakes and I took full advantage,' Semien said 'next
time I'm sure they'll pitch me tougher.'
