Sean Manaea retired 11 batters on strikeouts as the Gotham Gold Gloves bested
the Chicago Whales 4 to 3 at Edsel Stadium.
Calvin Faucher(4-3) pitched well in relief and was credited with the victory.
He allowed just 1 hit and no walks in 1 and 1/3 innings. Chicago made it
exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Michael Tonkin(3-2) was tagged with the loss in relief. While he was the
losing pitcher, he still struck out 6 batters in 3 and 1/3 innings.
Rich Domovic was in a contemplative mood after the tough loss, 'It is really
hard to lose this kind of a game. It may seem weird to some, but it is
easier to take the occasional blow-out loss. It is the ones that just barely
get away that hurt so much - like this one!'
