Framber Valdez dominated striking out 11 Chicago batters as the Gotham Gold
Gloves bested the Chicago Whales 3 to 2 at Edsel Stadium.
Valdez(6-3) pitched a solid game. He allowed only 5 hits and no walks in 8
innings and was touched for 2 homeruns. Gotham had 8 hits overall, while
Chicago had 5.
Valdez got help from Calvin Faucher who earned his 2nd save. Spencer
Schwellenbach(7-3) was hit with the loss. Everyone seemed to enjoy the
performance of Valdez - except Chicago. Rich Domovic lamented, 'He just was
'on' tonight. He was keeping our guys off balance all game. A fine game by
a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans -
unfortunately we were the visitors!'
