Left fielder Garrett Mitchell had 2 base hits at Kauffman Stadium as the
Gotham Gold Gloves staged a comeback win over the pathetic Palatine Cubs by
the count of 6 to 3.
Gotham had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning when they
tallied 5 runs on 4 hits. The key at-bat was by Trent Grisham who deflated
the mood of the partisan fans when he cleared the fences for a two-run home
run. Although they lost, Palatine did out-hit Gotham 10 to 7.
The victory went to Calvin Faucher(3-2) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing
no runs. David Bednar(3-5) was the losing pitcher in relief. 'I pin this one
on my own shoulders,' Bednar said. 'The bottom line is I didn't get the job
done. Our fans deserve better than this.'
